Wanting to build a computer to run the game 'Spore'?

Hey all,

Im wanting to build a computer that can play the game Spore, just wondering what parts would be suitable, and what price do think i would be looking at?

I've never built or tried to build a computer before, but i really want to. I have my old computer ( its dead, well REALLY slow) so i have the shell of the tower, the monitor, etc.

Also, here are the requirements for Spore:

Memory 鈥?XP: 512 MB RAM / Vista: 768 MB RAM

Hard Drive 鈥?At least 300 MB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for created creatures. (600 MB for digital download)

Video Card 鈥?A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0*

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires at least:

* Intel Integrated Chipset GMA 950 * Dual 2.0GHz CPUs, or 1.7GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent

Supported Video Cards

ATI Radeon(TM) series 9500, 9600, 9800 X300, X600, X700, X800, X850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 2400, 2600, 2900, 3650, 3850

Pcs these days are quite simple to build

Firstly you will need a new Power Supply as the one in the tower will not be suitable

If you want to go down the Intel route

Decide which 775 board you want (making sure it will fit in the case to be sure get a Uatx board) don't go for the cheapest but you do not need to go mad the motherboard manual tells you how to attach all the parts to it

Then you need a CPU I would go for a duel core CPU my self

Memory go for 677 ddr2 as thats the optimum price to speed

Sata2 Hard drive

DVD writer (they are really cheap now)

I would go for a cheap PCI-e graphics card as well as it does not add much to the budget

Memory size go for 1GB Xp or 2 GB Visa

If the hard drive is clean and never been used the os cd will boot automaticly to install XP/Vista

without the OS in the UK abou t拢180- 拢200 or $300 Us
If the computer is from scratch, and you want a decent machine id check out:

ASUS motherboards

AMD processors (my personal preference, intel fine but usually pay a little more for them for some reason)

RAM well thats an open field, but i dont go for "Budget" makes they tend to fail.

Seagate/Maxdata/fujitsu fine for Hard drives,

Geforce/Radeon graphics cards

check out www.microdirect.com its UK sales thoughWanting to build a computer to run the game 'Spore'?
If all you want it for is to play spore, you will find it a lot lot cheaper to just buy a ready made one. the only savings come from big gameing rigs.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc鈥?/a>

Edit_

that site has some excellent prices. www.overclockers.co.uk and www.ebuyer.co.uk are the cheapest around, you wont find cheaper.

just make sure when choosing a CPU you get a board with the same socket type. (eg core 2 is lga775 look for a socket 775 board, then the same type of ram, most boards are SATA so buy same type of hard drive.

if you have problems or just want to find out if your parts will work together, join this forum and ask there, but dont post links as they will ban you. just post the part names. or if you can find the manufacturers description they allow that.

(i'm on the forum aswell, so might end up helping you there aswell. lol)

Edit_2

www.overclockers.co.uk do good fool proofe bundles for the begginner.
if your building a computer you should get a bare bones bunddle because that would be the cheapest way. go to novatech they have alot of cheap parts heres the link http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/Wanting to build a computer to run the game 'Spore'?
Thats a taught thing to answer! Thats like me asking I want to buy a car, and You list out the kind of tires I should get!

The biggest part of building a computer is to figure out this whole parts things. If I tell you which parts then I'm building the computer.

For me, the basics kind of flow this way.

Figure out your processor first. Mostly are you going to go Intel or AMD. Intel is a little better, but a little higher priced. AMD isn't to bad, but cheaper.

Next is your Motherboard. you buy a Motherboard for the type of processor you are going to get (AMD or INTEL).

Mostly the motherboard is Buss speed or how much RAM it well hold, how many Slots you well need (PCI Express 16 4x 1x) This is the thing that kind of takes the most time to figure out. Some Motherboards have more slots for Hard Drives (SATA) but not as many slots for Graphics (or other expantion slots). So you have to figure out which one you want more.

Next is Buying RAM. Just by the best RAM for the price for the speed of your motherboard. (If you go with Vista you should get 2gb of RAM) for XP 1gb is good enough but ram is so cheap getting 2gb is good (4gb is only for 64bit os)

After that, its just a matter of how much you want to spend,

Graphic Card (ATI or Nvidia), Hard drive size (if you download music and videos or edit home movies you want more space)

DVD burner

Keyboard mouse and all of that extras.

There are plenty of tutorials online of how to build a computer.

For what you want any computer in the last year well probably work, even $500 from dell. The point of building the computer it put everything you want in it!

Any questions ask.

One last thing, I go to newegg.com you can buy your computer parts here (there are other places also) but I mostly read reviews, from customers. http://www.tomshardware.com/ is another place to go to read up on new things, go to there Charts to figure out which process or graphic card is faster compare them.
What ever you do have at least 1GB and memory and DON'T USE VISTA IT IS A RIP IT IS COMFUSING I REPEAT DO NOT INSTALL VISTA. use windows XP or 2000. they are the most stable, and you can make xp look like vista. for spore and other the sims games, i like using Nvida GeForce, ATI Radeon has lots of problems. Use a 250 GB 9200 RPM HDD, they are fast and can install games faster the higher the RPM #. when you pick a case, thermal take is good at making your gaming pc fast. most of this stuff is at www.zipzoomfly.com (i don't know how to make links)
