Is a 1.79Ghz processor with 1gig of RAM enough to run EA's Spore smoothly?

I know the system requirements call for at least a 2.0Ghz processor with 512 of RAM to run spore but does anyone have any experience with running this game (or other games) on a system less than par? I thought maybe the additional 512 of RAM would be enough to successfully run the game. I downloaded the creature creator and it ran fine but the full game is probably a little more demanding of the system Is a 1.79Ghz processor with 1gig of RAM enough to run EA's Spore smoothly?
its not the processor or the memory, but not only do you have to meet the minimum requirements, you also have to have a good graphics cards, or itll be all choppy when you play. if you dont have the minimum, the installer will say you dont meet the requirements and quit.
The minimum spec sez 2gig P4 and 512 Ram

So if i had to guess id say yeahIs a 1.79Ghz processor with 1gig of RAM enough to run EA's Spore smoothly?
It might and it might not. Since you only have 1.79gb processor, sometimes it does not even open.

Getting a better video card will help drastically. I dont know the specs for cpu or ram, but a better video card always helps the most.(unless youre running a p2 or p3 lol!!)Is a 1.79Ghz processor with 1gig of RAM enough to run EA's Spore smoothly?
You should SERIOUSLY go to www.systemrequirementslab.com, BEFORE you spend 50 bucks on "Spore", just to find out your PC won't run it at all, and then you'll be a pissed off consumer, who failed to do their homework BEFORE they bought the game and took it home.

It will scan your PC and give you a "Pass" or "Fail" grade on hardware, and show you where your PC sits on a minimum and recommended scale.

I'm guessing you will be below the minimum and FAIL with your current PC.

I might pick it up tonight, but my upgraded PC sooooo smokes the specs... $50 for a modern day "Monster Rancher"...Hmmmm? :D
