My JC friend took a job at the Botanical Gardens right out of Uni. I do not know what she studied in Uni but I am quite sure it did not have anything to do with Horticulture. She just loved Horticulture. As far as I know, she is still there.



If I wanted to learn about Horticulture, I would get a job at the Botanical Gardens. It has a very good rep and looks very good on a resume if you plan to pursue that career path.
